No matter what your age, it’s time to make falafel a go-to ingredient. Falafel is made from broad beans and chickpeas, which have been ground up and fried. They are packed with protein and are an extremely healthy and low-calorie meat alternative.

While everyone’s health needs differ, just one serving of falafel can have enough protein to fulfill your daily needs. Combine them with Greek salad and a tortilla, and you have our nutritious and delicious falafel wraps.

The best part about this recipe is that it’s easy to make and saves well. So, just cooking once can provide lunches for up to 4 days. Sound good? Let’s start making them!

Ingredients for Falafel Wraps:

  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 5-6 large tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 large cucumber (diced)
  • 1 package cubed feta
  • 8 tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
  • 24 falafel balls (buy pre-cooked)
  • Garlic mayo or low-fat plain mayo
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)

How to Make Falafel Wraps

Dice the tomatoes, cucumber, and onion if you didn’t buy pre-diced. Add them to a large bowl.

Cube the feta if you didn’t buy pre-diced. Add to the bowl with the veggies.

Add the olive oil and vinegar to the veggies and stir to combine. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare the falafels. We like to do ours in our air fryer. Though cooking times vary, we find 400°F for 5-7 minutes does the trick. We check back every 2-3 minutes to prevent burning. (Falafel can also be baked in the oven or heated in the microwave).

Once the falafel is done, pop open the air fryer to allow them a minute to cool. In the meantime, place your tortilla on a plate.

Spoon 3 falafels on your tortilla, slicing them in half. Add about ¾ cup of the salad you made in step 3. Be careful not to overfill the tortilla.

Add garlic mayo or your alternative based on your preferences. We typically add about 1 tablespoon per wrap.

As best as you can, fold in the two ends and roll the wrap. It doesn’t have to look perfect, and if you struggle with your hands, just folding it into a taco shape works as well.

Enjoy!

Variations of Falafel Wraps

  • As mentioned in the ingredients, feel free to swap the garlic mayo for another type of mayo. You can also use Greek yogurt.
  • Add a diced bell pepper to the salad if you want.
  • Add fresh parsley for a little stronger of a taste.
  • Feel free to skip the mayo if you don’t like it.

Tips for Making Falafel Wraps

  • Use Tupperware: Make the salad in a Tupperware for easy storage if you know you will have leftovers.
  • Buy pre-diced ingredients: Buy pre-cubed feta in the deli section to lower the workload of this recipe.
  • Add more olive oil: The olive oil measurement here is to our taste. But if you want an extra tablespoon, feel free to add it.

What to Serve with Falafel Wraps

Falafel wraps are a complete lunch all on their own. But if you serve them for dinner, you might find yourself wanting something a little more. Healthy side options include a salad or some rice, though these can also be served with fries.

How to Store Falafel Wraps

We recommend storing the Greek salad and the falafel separately and then making the wraps fresh whenever you want one. This keeps the falafel nice and crisp.

Place the Greek salad in an airtight container that won’t let any liquid leak. The leftover falafels can be wrapped in aluminum foil or placed in a plastic bag. Both of these items need to be stored in the fridge. We recommend keeping extra tortillas in the original container before placing them in the fridge as well.

This is one of our favorite meals to prep on Sunday and enjoy all week long! They are so easy to make once the salad is pre-prepared!

How to Reheat Falafel Wraps

One of the reasons we recommend saving the ingredients separately is because as a whole, this recipe cannot be reheated. But if the falafels are separate, you can heat them in the microwave on their own for 30 seconds to a minute before adding them to the wraps.
