Of course, your grandmother will love any gift you buy for her, but we also know the urge to gift a useful gift. Grandmas can sometimes be difficult to shop for, however, even if they are your best friend!
We’ve curated a list of some amazing gifts for a variety of grandmas—whether yours likes to cook, sew, or curl up with a book on the couch. Read on to discover the best gifts for grandma so your holiday shopping is a breeze!
1. Anything Self-Care
If your grandma is anything like mine, then she has plenty of things and is extremely difficult to shop for. That being said, personal care items are my go-to, and chances are, your grandma will love them too!
Focus on things she may not think of, like luxury bath bombs, Epsom salts, or maybe a face mask. Just ensure you keep any allergies she has in mind, and choose scents you know she will love!
2. A Subscription to Her Favorite Hobby
Again, my grandma has plenty of things and is much more interested in non-physical or useful gifts. If yours is the same, I highly recommend researching a subscription gift that suits their favorite hobby. You might have to get creative on your own, but below is my suggestion for a few common hobbies:
- Reading: Audible or Kindle Unlimited subscription
- Foodie: wine subscription, or a local one with new foods to try, like the Pickle of the Month club!
- Sewing: a yarn subscription (aptly called Yarn of the Month!)
- Gardening: yes, there are a variety of gardening subscriptions, check out Cratejoy!
- Cooking: Baking subscription box anyone? (yes, this exists too!)
- Music: Check out a vinyl subscription, or consider purchasing them Spotify premium!
If none of these seem like your grandma, not to worry, there are also more neutral options, like a candle subscription or one for fun pairs of socks!

3. Kitchen Devices
This will only work if your grandma loves to cook, but most individuals don’t buy all the unique kitchen devices they want due to cost constraints—which is common with grandparents living on a pension!
For example, you could grab your grandmother that pasta maker she has been dreaming of, or maybe an Instant Pot. For those grandmothers who seem to have everything, there are also items like donut makers, air fryers, and more!
4. Slippers
Slippers are one of those things that people rarely buy for themselves, but the good news is, you can never have too many pairs! We know your grandma would love to receive some slippers for Christmas, and even if she already has some, chances are you’ll buy a pair or a color she doesn’t own, and she can rotate!
5. Clothing
Those of us not on a fixed income often don’t realize it, but clothing is a luxury item—especially if your grandmother loves a particular brand she can no longer afford. While this is a gift limited to those who know their grandmother well enough to have her size, not to worry, there are lots of items out there that come in one size fits most(think hats and gloves!)
Additionally, if your grandmother isn’t as mobile as she once was, adaptive clothing can make it easier for her to visit the bathroom, travel, and more—and might be something she can’t afford to buy for herself. Here are our favorite 10 adaptive clothing brands for women.
6. Flowers
Almost every woman on the planet loves to receive flowers, and chances are, your grandmother is no different. Flowers make an excellent last-minute gift, especially if you know her favorite type.
We do recommend buying potted flowers over the fresh cut ones in the store, but either can make your grandmother smile. If you go for the potted variety, consider a peace lily, poinsettia, or another easy-to-care-for variety.
7. Bluetooth Tracker or AirTags
Growing older often leads to more forgetfulness, which can be difficult to deal with. Often, adults don’t even know all of the options available to them, like AirTags and Bluetooth trackers, for keeping track of their devices. A pack of these can be a great gift for any grandparent—especially if you take the time to help them set them up!

8. Bird or Squirrel Feeder
Sometimes, grandparents can struggle to accept gifts, especially from their grandchildren. A bird feeder (or squirrel feeder) is a great gift because when your grandparents accept it, they feel like it is for the animals in the neighborhood rather than for them.
Plus, bird feeders can provide hours of entertainment for your grandparents, and they can be great conversation starters with the neighbors. If possible, spend a little time researching the wildlife they might be able to see in their area, so you can buy a bird feeder that fits best!
9. Cookies or Baked Goods
Again, many grandparents just don’t have space for “things” in their home—and chances are, they are actually trying to get rid of things, especially if they plan to downsize their house in the future.
As long as your grandparents aren’t diabetic, baked goods or cookies are an excellent gift. If they are, consider researching some diabetic friendly foods and making a fun gift tray (nut tray, anyone?) The nice thing about these gifts is that your grandma still has something to open and enjoy, but then can throw away the wrapper without having to add more things to their home.
10. A Donation in Their Name
Have you gone through this entire list and realized your grandma already has all of the above? You aren’t alone! Some grandmas just have everything. In that case, we recommend making a donation on their behalf to their favorite charity.
If you don’t know their favorite charity, consider the World Wildlife Fund, which also gives you a certificate that can be put under the tree. You can also consider Coral Gardeners, which will plant a coral on your grandma’s behalf, and she can watch it grow via webcam. If all else fails, a local donation to a food bank in your grandma’s neighborhood can go a long way.
